Social indicators for the first 9 months

The Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population provided 490,000 rehabilitation aids to 11,000 persons with disabilities in January–September this year.

Of the rehabilitation aids provided, 3,231 were wheelchairs (including 135 powered wheelchairs), 1,506 were lower- and upper-limb prostheses, and 2,445 were canes, crutches and elbow crutches.

In addition, persons with disabilities were provided with 6,654 pairs of prosthetic and orthopaedic footwear, 2,089 hearing aids, 162 corsets, and other rehabilitation aids.

Persons with disabilities who were unable to travel to Baku to the Agency’s Prosthetic-Orthopaedic Production and Rehabilitation Centre themselves or with the assistance of their relatives to obtain rehabilitation aids were provided with these aids at their homes.
