On August 19, new apartments were provided to families of martyrs and persons with war-related disabilities in Nakhchivan city and the districts of the autonomous republic.

As stated in the Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on August 12, 2026, an additional 68 apartments were allocated for families of martyrs and persons with war-related disabilities in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The ceremonies for the presentation of the apartments were attended by Ceyhun Jalilov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Hidayat Abdullayev, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jabbar Musayev, Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Farid Bagirzade, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as heads of city and district executive authorities.

It was stated at the events that the provision of housing to families of martyrs and persons with war-related disabilities began in the 1990s on the instructions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. As a result of the special attention and care shown by President Ilham Aliyev to citizens belonging to these categories, social protection measures, including the housing programme, have been consistently expanded. Following the victorious Patriotic War, the scale of the programme was increased fivefold. During the post-war period, 7,300 apartments have been provided, while more than 16,000 apartments in total have so far been provided to families of martyrs and persons with war-related disabilities.

Measures in this area are also being implemented continuously in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Today, another 68 families of martyrs and persons with war-related disabilities have been provided with new apartments. Overall, nearly 400 apartments have been provided to citizens belonging to these categories in the autonomous republic to date.

Of the apartments provided, 29 are located in Nakhchivan city, 23 in Sharur district, while the remaining apartments are located in newly constructed multi-apartment residential buildings in Babek, Ordubad, Julfa, Shahbuz and Kangarli districts.

The families of martyrs and persons with war-related disabilities who were provided with apartments expressed their gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the attention and care shown to them, the social support measures implemented for them, and for providing them with new homes today.
