Under the legislation, a treatment period is not required when applying for the assessment of disability status due to a number of diseases.
These diseases include pulmonary sarcoidosis, joint ankylosis, dementia, autism, many haematological diseases, and others.
For the assessment of disability status due to these diseases, referrals for medical and social expert examination are issued and assessments are carried out without requiring patients to undergo a treatment period.
As part of the reforms implemented in our country in the field of disability in recent years, the number of diseases for which no treatment period is required for disability assessment has also been increased 14.6-fold, from 5 to 73.
Referrals for medical and social expert examination for disability assessment are issued electronically by medical institutions. Referrals entered into the “Disability” subsystem of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population are anonymised, and a transparent and objective decision is made based on the diagnosis indicated in the referral, without disclosing the identity of the person concerned, the institution from which the referral was submitted, or other such information.
