In Ankara, the 12th meeting of the Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation in the Field of Labour and Social Protection was held between the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Türkiye.
Prior to the meeting, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Azerbaijan Anar Aliyev and Minister of Labour and Social Security of Türkiye Vedat Işıkhan held a bilateral meeting. During the meeting, an exchange of views took place regarding the current state of bilateral cooperation in the social field and the agenda of the next session.
At the meeting of the Joint Permanent Commission, attended by delegations, it was emphasized that relations between the two brotherly countries have been constantly developing thanks to the efforts of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and that with the signing of the Shusha Declaration in 2021, the relations were elevated to the level of strategic alliance. It was noted that cooperation in the fields of labour, employment, and social protection, as in other spheres, is at a high level. The importance of cooperation documents signed in these areas during the past period, as well as the activities of the Joint Permanent Commission in expanding bilateral relations, was underlined.
The meeting also discussed future directions of joint activities. The importance of continuing mutual exchanges of experience and information in the fields of preventing informal employment, occupational safety, vocational training, pension provision, the application of digital services, and others was stressed. It was also noted that the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Social Protection signed in previous periods should be updated in line with modern requirements, considering the reforms carried out in recent years in both countries in the field of labour and social protection and the development of digital services.
At a joint briefing, Anar Aliyev and Vedat Işıkhan informed about the outcomes of the Commission’s meeting and emphasized that future cooperation directions in areas of common interest had been identified.
Subsequently, the ministers signed the Protocol of the 12th meeting of the Joint Permanent Commission. The Action Plan for 2026–2027, annexed to the document, reflects future cooperation directions, as well as information and experience exchanges, in strengthening active employment measures, enhancing employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, labour migration, improving occupational safety, developing training infrastructure, preventing informal employment, pension provision, social insurance, labour market monitoring and forecasting, the application of digital technologies, and other areas during the specified period between the two Ministries.
Within the framework of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation also became acquainted with the activities of Turkish Aerospace Industries.
