A meeting was held with a group of people with war-related disabilities and NGO representatives at the Baku Rehabilitation Center of the State Medical-Social Expertise and Rehabilitation Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.
Deputy Chairman of the Agency's Board Vugar Mammadov provided information on the reforms carried out in the field of disability and rehabilitation in our country in recent years, the work done to modernize the rehabilitation infrastructure, and the alternative rehabilitation methods applied.
It was noted that in the post-war period, 3600 war participants, their family members, and members of the martyrs' families were provided with rehabilitation and socio-psychological services in the Agency's Rehabilitation Centers, and these services are continued today.
Thanks to a professional team of doctors and modern rehabilitation services, most of them have already regained their previous health and left their disabilities behind.
As a result, a large number of those war participants work in various positions in both the state and private sectors.
Ramal Guluzade, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency, stated that support was provided for the employment of 27 thousand people who were members of the families of martyrs and war participants in the post-war period.
It was noted that 12,7 thousand of them were involved in the self-employment program and the Agency supported them in establishing their small businesses. Others were provided with suitable jobs and were also involved in vocational training courses. Work was also done to ensure the employment of those who completed the courses.
It was emphasized that great work was also done in the field of providing war participants who lost their limbs with prostheses. Close cooperation was established with the world's leading companies "Ottobock" (Germany) and "ÖSSUR" (Iceland), and 493 servicemen were provided with 610 high-tech, latest-generation prostheses.
The war participants expressed their agreement on the modern rehabilitation system established in our country, the work carried out in the field of providing rehabilitation services and facilities for people with war-related disabilities, especially with the latest generation prostheses, as well as employment measures.
The meeting exchanged views on the reforms implemented in the field of disability and rehabilitation, and listened to the opinions and proposals of representatives of civil society institutions.
