The premiere of the play "Search" prepared by the ASA Theater, the first inclusive theater in Azerbaijan, took place at the DOST Center for Inclusive Development and Creativity under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.
Government officials, parliamentarians, and artists attended the event. The guests first got acquainted with the handicrafts of the Center's trainers and beneficiaries.
Before the performance, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Anar Aliyev congratulated the ASA Theater team on their new creative successes. The Minister noted that the new performance, in addition to being an artistic event, is a shining example of important steps taken in society for social equality, inclusiveness, and moral values.
He noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, large-scale programs aimed at social justice, inclusion and the realization of the potential of each individual are being implemented. At the same time, the attention and care shown by the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, to culture and vulnerable population groups plays an important role in the development of this area. The DOST Center for Inclusive Development and Creativity, established on her initiative 4 years ago, also provides significant support for the improvement of the creative potential of individuals from vulnerable groups and inclusive development.
Anar Aliyev noted that in recent years, within the framework of close cooperation between the Ministry and the ASA Theater, the theater has produced stage plays such as the “Blue Bird”, “Oath”, “Neighbor”, “Hamlet”, “The Year of Nasimi”, and the “Search” presented today. The Minister expressed his confidence that such inclusive initiatives will be sustainable and will give an impetus to further strengthening inclusiveness, creativity and humanistic values in our society.
The performance, based on the works of the great thinker Faridaddin Attar's "The Language of Birds" and Albert Camus' "Incomprehensibility" was met with great interest and was a staged encounter of the contradictory philosophical thoughts of two authors who lived and created in different eras.
The production director of the play "Search", which also features beneficiaries and employees of the DOST Center for Inclusive Development and Creativity, is the founder and head of the ASA Theater, Nihad Gulamzade, producer Nijat Gulam, second director Samaya Aghayarova, lighting designer Binyamin Sailov, costume designer Nubar Huseynova, stage designer Tamerlan Abdullayev, and multimedia manager Famil Mahmudbayli. Professional actors with and without disabilities were involved in the creative team.
The main roles were played by People's Artist Mehriban Zaki, Samaya Aghayarova, Elshan Askerov, Elsever Rahimov, Lala Suleymanova, Elvin Mirzayev, Aydan Aghazade, Farid Ismayilov, Gulnar Elfidatli, Saadat Abbasova, Sarkhan Najiyev and Bahram Rahimli.
