At the initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO), the first meeting of the Technical Working Group on the Development of Specifications and Service Standards for Assistive Rehabilitation Products, chaired by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, was held.

The meeting brought together representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, the Ministry of Health, the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB), the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, and an expert from the World Health Organization.

Discussions focused on ensuring that imported wheelchairs, hearing aids, walking sticks, orthopaedic footwear, and other essential rehabilitation products comply with minimum quality standards, the structure of the WHO Assistive Products Specifications, the application of global standards within the national context, and other related issues.

The meeting also identified the next steps towards developing unified standards for the provision of assistive product services, including assessment, fitting, training, follow-up, and maintenance, while emphasising the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation among the relevant public institutions.
