One of the key priorities of President Ilham Aliyev’s successful policy is ensuring citizens’ well-being and strengthening the country’s social protection system.
An overview of the successful outcomes of the five social reform packages implemented in Azerbaijan over the past seven years shows that multiple increases have been introduced in payments of salaries, pensions, allowances and benefits.
In 2018–2026, the minimum and average monthly pensions increased 2.9-fold, the minimum wage increased 3.1-fold, the average monthly salary increased 2.2-fold, social allowances and benefit payments increased fivefold, and the average amount of targeted state social assistance increased 2.5-fold.
Monthly social payments in the form of pensions, allowances, benefits and targeted state social assistance cover 2.2 million people, with the total amount reaching 900 million AZN.
The announcement by the head of state, during his speech at the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party, that the minimum wage, pensions and social allowances would also be increased next year once again confirms that increases in these payments have become a sustained trend and that further important steps will be taken in the period ahead to ensure social well-being.
