Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Anar Aliyev, met with Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano, Secretary General of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
The meeting took place within the framework of the international conference titled “Adapting Social Protection Systems in the Context of Contemporary Global Challenges”, jointly organized in Baku by the International Association of Pension and Social Funds and the State Social Protection Fund under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.
Anar Aliyev highlighted the achievements of the reforms implemented in Azerbaijan’s social protection system in recent years, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with ISSA throughout the reform process. He noted the Association’s valuable support in helping member countries modernize their social protection systems in line with progressive international practices.
It was noted that cooperation between ISSA and the Ministry and its subordinate bodies has been consistently expanding. The cooperation agreement signed last year between the State Social Protection Fund and ISSA was mentioned as a step that has further strengthened the relationship.
Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano expressed ISSA’s high appreciation for the ongoing social reforms in Azerbaijan and conveyed satisfaction with the Ministry's and its institutions' active cooperation with ISSA.
He also underlined the significance of the international conference being held in Baku, which is dedicated to adapting social protection systems to modern challenges.
During the meeting, prospects for future cooperation between ISSA and the Ministry were discussed.
