The State Medical-Social Expertise and Rehabilitation Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population organized a media tour at the Shamkir Children's Rehabilitation Center.
Media representatives were informed that the 25-bed Center, which was put into operation in May last year and is equipped with modern medical and rehabilitation equipment, provides medical, social and psychological rehabilitation of children with disabilities.
The institution provides therapeutic physical education, physiotherapy (electrostimulation, inductothermy, phonophoresis, electrophoresis, ultrasound therapy, laser therapy, therapeutic baths, paraffin therapy, etc.), therapeutic massage, swimming pool, psychotherapy, speech therapy, labour, music therapy, etc. services.
Over the past period, more than 5400 children with disabilities have been provided with rehabilitation services at the Shamkir Children's Rehabilitation Center. About 4000 of them were involved in outpatient, inpatient, as well as community-based, online and mobile rehabilitation services.
Media representatives got acquainted with the conditions created at the Center, the rehabilitation services provided to children with disabilities, and the physiotherapeutic treatment procedures applied here.
It should be noted that currently, the State Medical-Social Expertise and Rehabilitation Agency operates Children's Rehabilitation Centers No. 1 and 2 in Baku, as well as in Shamkir and Gabala.
