A meeting was held at the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population with representatives of the “Azerbaijan Chernobyl Disabled Union” Public Association.
The meeting was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the tragic accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Chairman of the Agency’s Board Vugar Behbudov noted that significant steps in the social protection of persons who became disabled due to the Chernobyl accident were initiated in 1993 on the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and that this work continues.
It was stated that the special attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev towards persons with disabilities have contributed to the continuous strengthening of social protection for those affected by the Chernobyl events. Within the framework of five social reform packages implemented since 2018, social payments for this category have been increased multiple times.
Work carried out in areas such as provision of housing and cars, rehabilitation services, and sanatorium-resort treatment for persons disabled due to the Chernobyl accident was discussed.
Chairman of the Public Association Mirhasan Hasanov and its members expressed their satisfaction with the social support measures provided and conveyed their gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev.
The meeting included an exchange of views on ongoing efforts in the field of social protection for persons affected by the Chernobyl accident.
