Meetings were held with the Ministers of Türkiye and Lithuania on the sidelines of the International Labour Conference session.
The head of the Azerbaijani delegation participating in the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) held in Geneva, Switzerland, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev, presented the notification on Azerbaijan’s accession to another ILO Convention to the Organization’s Director-General, Gilbert Houngbo.
Convention No. 187 concerning the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health was approved earlier this year by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting between Anar Aliyev and Gilbert Houngbo, it was noted that Azerbaijan has already acceded to 60 ILO Conventions and that the possibilities of ratifying several more conventions are currently being considered.
Within the framework of the session, during Minister Anar Aliyev’s meeting with Türkiye’s Minister of Labour and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, it was emphasized that relations between the two countries are at the level of brotherhood and strategic alliance. Views were exchanged on the cooperation agenda between the two ministries, as well as on making cooperation in the export of workforce more sustainable and intensive.
During a meeting with Lithuania’s Minister of Social Security and Labour, Juratė Zailskienė, Minister Anar Aliyev noted that there are broad opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the social sphere. The meeting discussed deepening cooperation in this field and exploring opportunities for attracting workforce from Azerbaijan in line with the needs of Lithuania’s labour market.
During meetings with Beate Andrees, Assistant Director-General and Chief of Cabinet of the ILO Director-General, and Peter van Rooij, ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, opportunities for expanding Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the ILO in new areas were discussed.
