Hippotherapy (therapy with horses) services have been provided since 2022 as one of the new rehabilitation methods by the State Agency for Medical and Social Expertise and Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population.
Over the past period, more than 1,300 persons with disabilities have been involved in services in this field.
The main objective of hippotherapy, jointly organised by the Agency and the “Baku GoldenHorse Therapeutic and Educational Center” equestrian centre, is to increase the activity of body muscles of these individuals through movement while riding a horse.
Based on international practice, this therapy method also has a positive impact on improving the overall mood of persons with disabilities and on the socio-psychological and physiotherapeutic rehabilitation of children with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, speech disorders, and other conditions.
