The State Medical-Social Expertise and Rehabilitation Agency, operating under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, has organized new hippotherapy (horse-assisted therapy) sessions for children with disabilities.
The activities were organized jointly with the “Baku GoldenHorse Therapeutic and Educational Center” and involved children receiving rehabilitation services at the Agency’s rehabilitation centers.
Held twice a week, the main purpose of the therapy is to increase muscle activity, improve motor skills, and enhance coordination and balance through movement on horseback.
Since the launch of the program in 2022, 1.5 thousand persons with disabilities have benefited from hippotherapy.
Based on international best practices, this therapy contributes positively to improving the overall well-being of persons with disabilities and supports the socio-psychological and physiotherapeutic rehabilitation of children with autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, speech impairments, and other conditions.
