Within the framework of the Employment Support Project implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population with the financial support of the World Bank, the number of individuals who have established their small businesses has now exceeded 24,000.
The main objective of the project is to expand the self-employment programme and to support unemployed persons from vulnerable groups — including people with disabilities, members of martyr families, low-income households, and others — in establishing small businesses in the fields of production and services.
Initially planned to cover 22,000 unemployed persons during 2020–2025, the successful implementation of the project has resulted in the number of participants already surpassing this target. By the end of this year, the figure is expected to exceed 26,000.
As recognition of its achievements, last year the Employment Support Project was awarded the Vice President’s Award of the World Bank for the Europe and Central Asia region.
Project participants also benefit from training programmes developed on the basis of the International Labour Organization’s methodology, which equip them with knowledge and skills in financial literacy, proactive entrepreneurial thinking, small business management, and more.
In addition, those who have successfully developed their small businesses under the project are provided with further support to expand their enterprises.
