A presentation on the analysis of Azerbaijan’s labour market was delivered.

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population with a delegation led by Anna Bordon, Head of the International Monetary Fund mission to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev highlighted the achievements of the social reforms implemented in recent years. Significant increases in social payments, including pensions, achieved through five social reform packages implemented over the past seven years under the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev were noted.

The participants discussed the recent 9.3 percent increase in pensions from the beginning of this year under the new Presidential Decree, as well as steps taken to introduce more humane approaches within the pension system. Attention was also drawn to digital services and proactive mechanisms introduced in the social protection system in recent years.

Information was provided on labour market development trends, the ongoing growth in the number of employment contracts, active labour market programmes, and efforts to develop and approve occupational and qualification standards. Recent amendments to labour legislation, measures aimed at increasing women’s employment opportunities, and youth employment projects were also discussed.

The meeting included an exchange of views on pension system reforms and recent labour market developments in the country.

Subsequently, during a meeting attended by Deputy Minister Rashad Mustafayev, representatives of the IMF mission delivered a presentation analysing Azerbaijan’s labour market.
