A documentary film titled “Shusha, You Are Free!” was screened at the event.
A remembrance event titled “Those Who Made and Shaped History,” dedicated to September 27 – Remembrance Day, was held at the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.
Prior to the event, which was attended by families of martyrs and war veterans, an exhibition of handicrafts on the theme of patriotism created by the Center’s trainers and beneficiaries was presented. The State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed at the event, and the dear memory of our martyrs was honoured with a minute of silence.
Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Zaur Aliyev said in his speech that six years ago, on September 27, 2020, in response to another military aggression by Armenia against our country, the Azerbaijani Army launched successful military operations under the leadership of President and Victorious Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev. The 44-day Patriotic War resulted in a historic Victory. Our native lands, which had remained under Armenian occupation for nearly 30 years, were liberated. As a result of the successful anti-terror operation conducted on September 19–20, 2023, which lasted only 23 hours, the full restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country was achieved.
It was noted that the memory of our martyrs is always held in the highest regard. Families of martyrs and war veterans are provided with state attention and care, and consistent social support measures are implemented for them. The DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center, established at the initiative of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, also carries out continuous work to develop the creative potential and promote the integration into society of members of families of martyrs, persons with war-related disabilities and their children, alongside other vulnerable groups.
Maftuna Gasimova, the wife of Patriotic War martyr Ismayil Gasimov and an employee of the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center, spoke at the event and expressed her gratitude for the support provided by the state to families of martyrs. She emphasized that working at the Center provides her with both moral strength and an opportunity to serve the values entrusted to her by the martyrs.
National Hero of the Patriotic War Javid Behbudov spoke about the bravery demonstrated by our heroic soldiers on the battlefield and the unity of our people as an iron fist. He noted that the glorious Victory has instilled an endless sense of pride and honour in each of us and demonstrated to the whole world the strength of our Army, the moral strength of our people and our unwavering national solidarity.
The creative team behind the documentary film “Shusha, You Are Free!”, jointly produced by the Baku Media Center and “Salnaməfilm” Studio with the support of the Ministry of Culture, then addressed the event.
Screenwriter Rasim Ismayilov and director Javidan Sharifov noted that the film, produced under the executive production of Arzu Aliyeva, head of the Baku Media Center, serves as a visual record of the Shusha operation, which has gone down in the history of warfare worldwide. The film, produced by Nazim Huseynov and Orman Aliyev, was described as a unique contribution that enables future generations to witness the glorious pages of our contemporary history through accurate and objective footage.
At the end of the event, the participants watched the documentary film “Shusha, You Are Free!”.
