One of the key components of the extensive efforts carried out to ensure decent living conditions for former internally displaced persons returning to their native lands under the Great Return Program is their inclusion in active employment and social support measures.
To date, employment has been secured for 10,623 economically active residents who have returned to their native lands. Of these, 7,915 people have been provided with suitable jobs through close cooperation between the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population and employers. Another 1,828 individuals are self-employed in various fields of activity.
In addition, 880 people have been involved in the Ministry’s self-employment program and provided with goods and materials to establish small family businesses. Former internally displaced persons resettled in the liberated territories are also being employed through the Ministry’s important program on co-financing employees’ wages together with employers.
Over the past period, 39 job fairs have also been organized in these territories. Through these active employment events, residents are presented with available vacancies in the area and are employed in positions that match their professional skills.
Vocational training courses are also organized to help returning residents acquire professions that meet labor market demands. During the reporting period, 506 residents participated in these courses. Those who successfully complete the training are subsequently employed in their newly acquired professions.
As a form of social support for specialists who settle and work in the liberated territories, they are provided with a one-time allowance of 600 AZN, an additional 5 days of annual leave, and salary supplements to their monthly official wages.
