A Serbian-Azerbaijani business forum was held in Belgrade with the participation of entrepreneurs from the two countries within the framework of the meeting
The Intergovernmental Commission’ 7th meeting on trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia was held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.
The head of the Azerbaijani delegation, co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev emphasized that the relations between our countries have risen to the level of strategic partnership with the political will and consistent efforts of the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Serbia at the meeting. He said that these relations based on strong friendship and mutual trust are constantly expanding.
It was noted that the two countries signed a Declaration on strategic partnership in 2013, a Joint Action Plan on strategic partnership in 2018, as well as cooperation documents in various fields in the past period, as well as new cooperation documents in the social field within the framework of this visit.
It was said that trade relations continue to grow, and last year there was a 17.9 percent increase in the trade turnover of Azerbaijan and Serbia. It was emphasized that the two countries demonstrated beneficial cooperation and mutual support within the framework of international organizations. The socio-economic development processes in Azerbaijan, the development of the non-oil sector, the presence of a fertile investment environment, the successful operation of Serbian companies in Azerbaijan, the importance of the Tool Free Economic Zone created in a convenient geographical area in terms of logistics and transportation were noted.
Co-chairman of the commission from Serbia, Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selakovic, noted that the constant expansion of relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan on the basis of friendly relations, and the development of bilateral relations from year to year is a source of satisfaction.
Expansion of trade and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia on the basis of new projects, directions of future cooperation in the fields of energy, transport and logistics, social, agricultural, educational, humanitarian, infrastructure, construction and other fields, as well as the issue of establishing a direct air connection between the two countries were discussed.
Then the Protocol on the results of the 7th meeting of the Commission was signed. The cooperation priorities of the two countries in various fields are reflected in the document.
Azerbaijan-Serbia business forum was held within the framework of the meeting, jointly organized by the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia. About 30 institutions and companies from Azerbaijan and 20 from Serbia participated in the business forum.
More than 10 business forums and business meetings were organized in Baku and Belgrade in the past period. It was emphasized that holding such business forums and presentations of mutual interest within the framework of these events between the businessmen of the two countries is of great importance in the further expansion of relations and the formation of new directions of cooperation.
