A press conference was held on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the approval of the Charter and the commencement of activities of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, in accordance with the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated June 30, 2020.
The Chairman of the Board of the Agency, Vugar Behbudov, said that after the Patriotic War, which ended with our historic Victory, the program for providing housing to families of martyrs and people with war-related disabilities was expanded 5 times, in accordance with the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev. In the post-war period, 6,8 thousand apartments were provided to citizens from these categories, and in the past period in general, up to 16 thousand.
After the Patriotic War, the Agency also provided 567 cars to people with war-related disabilities, and in the past period in general, 7,8 thousand cars.
During 2020-2025, 13,6 thousand privileged persons, including families of martyrs, persons with war-related disabilities, and other persons with disabilities, were provided with referrals and sent to sanatorium-resorts and treatment centers. Up to 1200 of them are members of martyrs' families.
During the mentioned period, the Agency provided home (mobile) social and household services to up to 19 thousand citizens, including lonely elderly people and persons with disabilities. Currently, 2242 persons are covered by state care in the Agency's institutions and benefit from social services.
A total of 556 individuals repatriated from Iraq, Syria, and other countries were supported for social-psychological adaptation, social reintegration, and social rehabilitation. Among them, 489 are children, 65 are women, and 2 are men.
Since November 1, 2019, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population has been entrusted with the management of adoption. Since then, a total of 737 children have been adopted. Of these, 371 are boys and 366 are girls. Also, in recent years, the “Foster Family” care model has been introduced in our country, and 49 children have already been placed in foster families. Of these, 30 are girls and 19 are boys.
Information was also provided on the Agency’s reintegration measures and the work it carries out on persons released from prison and placed under probation, and questions from media representatives were answered.
