On the 21st day of the Patriotic War, during which our Army achieved a historic Victory under the leadership of President and Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, Fuzuli city and the surrounding villages were liberated from Armenian occupation on 17 October 2020.

Pursuant to the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 31 July 2023, 17 October is celebrated annually as Fuzuli City Day.

As in our other liberated territories, large-scale construction and reconstruction work is being carried out in Fuzuli city. New residential areas, social infrastructure facilities, roads and healthcare institutions are being built in territories that were destroyed by the enemy during the years of occupation.
