Five years ago, on 4 October 2020, Jabrayil city was liberated from the occupation of the Armenian armed forces.
The liberation of Jabrayil city was announced to the public by the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, in his address on that day. Jabrayil was the first city to be liberated in the Patriotic War, marking a historic victory.
On 16 November 2020, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the liberated Jabrayil, and the President raised the tricolour flag in Jabrayil city and at the Khudaferin Bridge.
By Presidential Decrees, the “For the Liberation of Jabrayil” medal was established, and every year on 4 October, Jabrayil City Day is celebrated.
Like other liberated territories, large-scale reconstruction and development works are underway in Jabrayil. As a result of these works, Jabrayil is experiencing a new era of growth. Residents returning to their ancestral lands feel immense joy and pride.
