Persons who have adopted a child are provided with a monthly social allowance (AZN 240 for each child aged 3–18, AZN 600 for each child with a disability). In addition, they are entitled to a number of benefits in the areas of social protection, labor, and tax relations.
Specifically:
- Women and men who have five or more children, including children under the age of 8 deprived of parental care who have been adopted or placed under guardianship, are entitled to an old-age pension or age-related allowance 5 years earlier;
- Regardless of the duration of basic and additional leave, the additional leave provided for women with two children under the age of 14, women with three or more children under this age, or women with a child with a disability, also applies to persons who have adopted children;
- Women who adopt a child up to two months old are entitled to 56 days of paid social leave established for the postnatal period;
- Women who adopt a child under the age of three are entitled to partially paid leave for childcare until the child reaches the age of three;
- For one of the parents who has adopted a child with a disability, AZN 200 is deducted from the monthly taxable income from any salaried employment.
At the same time, if adopted children lose the head of the family (their adoptive parent), they are entitled to a monthly social payment (pension or allowance) due to the loss of the breadwinner. Furthermore, tuition fees of children deprived of parental care and adopted are covered by the state budget for the period during which they receive education on a paid basis.
