The State Labour Inspectorate Service under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population conducted awareness-raising events on gender equality in the workplace and the prevention of discrimination based on sex.
The events were organized by the Service’s Baku City Department and Absheron-Khizi Regional Office.
Representatives of the State Labour Inspectorate Service, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as nearly 150 employers and their representatives from both the public and private sectors, participated in the events.
During the events, information was provided on ensuring the principle of equal treatment in labour relations and preventing discrimination based on sex in recruitment, working conditions, remuneration, job assignments, and career opportunities.
Attention was also drawn to employers’ responsibilities in preventing discrimination in the workplace, fostering a healthy and fair working environment, and respecting employees’ rights.
At the end of the events, participants’ questions on the topic were answered. It was emphasized that ensuring gender equality also contributes to creating a fairer and more efficient working environment in labour relations.
The awareness-raising events were organized within the framework of the “Human Rights Month” campaign held from 18 May to 18 June and in accordance with the “National Action Plan on Gender Equality (Women and Men) in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2028.”
