The 25 thousandth participant of the project was provided with assets to establish a small tailoring business.
Implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population with the financial support of the World Bank, the number of participants in the Employment Support Project has now reached 25 thousand. The 25 thousandth participant, Ceyran Gulverdiyeva, a resident of Baku, was provided with assets under the project to establish her own small tailoring business.
In addition, she was awarded a certificate by the project for being the 25 thousandth participant. Covering the years 2020–2025, this project plays an important role in expanding the Self-Employment Programme and aims to support individuals from vulnerable groups (such as people with disabilities, members of martyrs’ families, and low-income families) in establishing small businesses in production and service sectors.
Originally designed to cover 22 thousand unemployed individuals, the successful implementation of the project has resulted in more than 25 thousand beneficiaries being involved.
Project participants also take part in training programmes organised under the International Labour Organization’s “Start and Improve Your Business” initiative, where they acquire knowledge and skills in financial literacy, proactive entrepreneurship thinking, and small business management.
After successfully completing the training and assessment phase, participants receive equipment to establish their own businesses in production and service fields. Furthermore, additional support is provided to those who successfully develop their small enterprises to help expand their businesses.
The successful implementation of the Employment Support Project has also been highly appreciated at the international level — last year, it was awarded a prestigious prize by the World Bank.
