A meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population with a delegation from the Republic of Latvia headed by Imants Lipskis, Director of the Labour Market Policy Department of the Latvian Ministry of Welfare, who is visiting Azerbaijan.
The visit aims to facilitate an exchange of experience in accordance with the Action Plan signed in March this year concerning the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two ministries.
Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Rashad Mustafayev noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia, based on friendship and mutual respect, are at a high level, and highlighted opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fields of labour and social protection.
The importance of exchanging good practices in the development of labour markets and social protection systems, institutional cooperation and the implementation of joint initiatives was emphasised in terms of expanding bilateral cooperation.
Information was provided on the achievements of reforms carried out in Azerbaijan in recent years in the fields of labour and employment, the extensive application of digital solutions in these areas, and the implementation of active employment programmes. Measures to improve the vocational training system in order to prepare a qualified workforce in line with labour market requirements were also highlighted.
During the meeting, both sides gave presentations on labour markets, work carried out in the fields of labour and employment, and new projects in their respective countries. Future cooperation in the field of employment services, as well as opportunities for attracting Azerbaijani workers to the Latvian labour market, were discussed.
