The Future Professions Summit was organized for the first time in our country by the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.
Held under the motto “Towards the Future” in the city of Nakhchivan, the event aimed to discuss the requirements related to new professions and skills in the labor market, the impact of technology and innovations on the business world, and to support the preparation of ecosystem participants for the future labor market, taking into account new challenges in the fields of education and employment.
The event was attended by Samir Seyidahmedli, Deputy Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Ceyhun Jalilov, Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vusal Nasirli, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Farid Bagirzade, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Nakhchivan AR temporarily performing ministerial duties, Elbrus Isayev, Rector of Nakhchivan State University, Vugar Abbasov, Chairman of the Board of the Nakhchivan AR Entrepreneurs Confederation, Sadiq Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, officials of other state institutions, representatives of the private sector, local and foreign career consultants, human resources specialists, education experts, and development mentors.
Opening the event, Samir Seyidahmedli noted that according to the “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development” approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 2 February 2021, the development of human capital is identified as one of the main directions of activity, and significant steps have also been taken in this area in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
He highlighted large-scale initiatives implemented in the autonomous republic, including the expansion of electronic services, strengthening education-employment links, engaging youth in innovative projects, and preparing qualified personnel. It was emphasized that the “State Program on Socio-Economic Development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2023–2027,” approved by the President, prioritizes the creation of new economic directions and strengthening human capital in the autonomous republic. Future professions are already being formed today, and expanding preparation and training programs in new directions in the autonomous republic is of special importance.
Vusal Nasirli noted that organizing such a summit reflects a new stage of thinking in the country’s employment policy and demonstrates a strategic vision focused on human capital as well as the transfer of knowledge and skills to future generations.
The Deputy Minister also stated that important and consistent efforts are currently underway in the Nakhchivan AR to reveal the potential of the updated economy, innovative approaches, and youth. The outcomes of this Summit will make a valuable contribution to the formation of the future profession ecosystem, as government, private sector, and educational institutions will work together to shape the future profession map. Together, we can make the future labor market more inclusive, competitive, and human-centered.
Other speakers also highlighted the importance of the Summit and the necessity of such events and a unified discussion platform for preparing for the future labor market.
Within the framework of the event, two panel discussions titled “Transformation of the Labor Market” and “Adaptation to Changes” were held. The panels discussed new approaches and future steps in education strategies, modern employment strategies, expected innovations in future professions and skills, ways to adapt to these innovations, preparation for the future labor market, and challenges faced in the Nakhchivan AR.
The next Future Professions Summit is scheduled to be held in Baku this month.
