The number of children placed with foster families during the previous period has reached 60 through the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population.
Of them, 36 are girls and 24 are boys. In addition, 28 children are under the age of 6, 26 are aged 7–13, and 6 are aged 14–18.
Currently, 31 of the children live with foster families in Baku, while 29 live in foster families in the regions (1 in Aghjabadi, 1 in Bilasuvar, 1 in Jalilabad, 3 in Ganja, 1 in Goychay, 3 in Goygol, 2 in Khachmaz, 4 in Lankaran, 1 in Shamakhi, 1 in Sheki, 4 in Shamkir, 1 in Zagatala, 1 in Astara, 1 in Zardab, 3 in Oghuz, and 1 in Imishli).
In accordance with the legislation, contracts on placing children in foster families have been signed between the Ministry and the foster parents.
The “foster family” care model is one of the most widely used forms of child care worldwide. Placing children deprived of parental care with foster families serves their upbringing and development in a family environment under state supervision.
