As a result of the political will and efforts of the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Serbia, the relations between the two countries have reached the level of strategic partnership, and these continuously expanding relations also cover the social sphere.
This was stated during a meeting at the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population with the delegation led by Serbia’s Minister of Family Welfare and Demography, Ms. Jelena Zarić Kovačević, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Anar Aliyev emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia are based on the principles of friendship and mutual respect and that successful cooperation has been established between the two countries in all fields, including labour and social protection.
Information was provided on the social reforms implemented in Azerbaijan in recent years, the DOST model, and achievements in the digitalization of state social services. It was noted that the success of these reforms has also been highly appreciated at the international level. Efforts to provide social support to vulnerable individuals and families were also discussed.
The state policy pursued in Azerbaijan in the field of demography and population development was highlighted, and it was mentioned that there is potential to enhance bilateral cooperation with Serbia in this area.
Ms. Jelena Zarić Kovačević expressed her positive impressions of her visit to Azerbaijan and emphasized her country’s friendly relations with Azerbaijan. She stated that Serbia is interested in expanding cooperation between the two ministries.
During the meeting, the future cooperation between the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Family Welfare and Demography of Serbia, as well as experience-sharing in the field of demography, were discussed.
