The Tripartite Commission on Social and Economic Issues, comprising representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK) and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organisations of Azerbaijan (ASK), held its next meeting.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population and Commission Chair Anar Aliyev, AHIK Chair Sahib Mammadov, ASK Chair Mammad Musayev, and staff members from all three institutions. In accordance with the Commission’s Regulations, the Ministry assumed the chairmanship of the Commission for 2026.
Opening the meeting, Anar Aliyev highlighted the social reforms implemented in recent years under the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev and noted that important new steps had also been taken to improve labour legislation. He emphasised the significance of the Commission in facilitating effective discussions with social partners on legislative initiatives, proposals related to labour, employment and social protection, and the ratification of International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions.
Sahib Mammadov and Mammad Musayev stressed the successful social partnership maintained between the parties and underlined the importance of the Commission’s joint discussions.
The meeting considered proposals concerning self-employed individuals and further improvements to labour legislation in line with ILO conventions.
Participants also discussed proposals regarding the legal status and labour and social protection rights of persons working through online platforms, the establishment of a Working Group within the Commission to implement the ILO’s “Self-Assessment Method for Social Dialogue Institutions”, and the preparation of an action plan for its implementation.
