Today, 5 years have passed since the Charter of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population was approved and began its activities.
The Social Services Agency, established and commenced operations following the approval of its Charter by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated June 30, 2020, provides social services to individuals in need in the forms and types prescribed by law. The Agency’s activities include ensuring their social protection and improving their welfare, as well as implementing state policy and regulation related to adoption and foster families.
The Agency provides mobile, stationary and semi-stationary services to population groups of all age categories with 13 branches and 21 institutions covering the entire country.
Over the past five years, the Agency has provided more than 550000 services to vulnerable groups (social and household services, housing and car, sanatorium-resort referrals, adoption, foster families, repatriation, etc.). During that period, social services were provided to up to 19000 citizens in their homes and more than 17000 people in the Agency's institutions.
Services were provided to about 40000 people in day care and social rehabilitation centers established within the framework of projects implemented by the Agency's orders, and in assistance centers for victims of domestic violence. In addition, support was provided to up to 15000 children from vulnerable groups in their cognitive, emotional, and physical development, as well as in their acquisition of basic writing and reading skills in 121 day care centers and more than 100 social rehabilitation centers established in the regions.
The expansion of the network of Social Service Centers is ongoing, and this year it is planned to open 5 more such centers, bringing the number of such centers to 10.
The Social Services Agency, a member of the European Social Network since 2023, has been awarded the “Asia's Choice Social Service Agency Award” and the “Asia Child Development Excellence Award” in the prestigious “Asia Award” competition for the Asia-Pacific region, international ISO certificates in three areas, and a number of the organization's mobile applications have received national awards.
In accordance with the “State Program on the Development of Social Services in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2023-2026”, approved by the Decree of the Head of State, it continues its activities to develop the social services system and the potential of qualified personnel in this field, expand the scope of social services, ensure targeting in social services and accessibility to quality services.
